Recently the Income Tax department further extended the ITR filing as per the below categories:
1. For Individual - 10.01.2021
2. Tax Audit and Other Audit - 15.01.2021
3. ITR - Audit Cases - 15.02.2021

Recently the Income Tax department further extended the ITR filing for all categories from 30th September to 30th November 2020. This decision was taken due to the difficulties faced by assessee because of ongoing Covid 19. The same was announced via a series of Tweets by Income Tax India.


What is the Income Tax return?


Every individual and firms pay income Tax for the income they have earned. So for every monetary transaction done and tax liability, each assessee has to fill a form called, Income Tax Return. The due date for filing Income tax return has been extended for 4th time for the financial year 2018-2019. The form can be file electronically as well as manually.


Understanding Income Tax Return


The Tax liability of every assessee is calculated with ITR. Various forms for different categories are issuedby CBDT. If taxpayers get delayed in filing for Income Tax return till due date, they are eligible for penalties stated by the department. Filing for Income Tax return is important, and recently, the I-T department has been sending emails and messages to remind the same.
