Govt shifts GST returns filing deadline for FY19 by one month
The
deadline for filing yearly return for the financial year 2018-19 as per GST
regime has been extended to one month. According to GST latest updates, post having needful clearances from the
election commission insight of the Model Code of Conduct, it has been decided
by the government to extend the due date. The due date for filing annual return
in GSTR-9 and GSTR 9C for the financial year 2018-19 has been fixed to 31st
October 2020, being shifted from 30th September 2020. This has been
confirmed by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) through
their Twitter post on Wednesday.
According
to the government, a notification for the concerned updated will be issued as
well. This move has been taken to benefit the taxpayers, according to the
experts.
Considering
most companies are struggling to execute the e-invoicing from 1st
October extension of GST annual compliances, this extension is expected to give
them the much-needed accomplishment. They anyway wouldn’t be able to meet the
earlier deadline.
